England coach Thomas Tuchel announced his 26-man squad for the World Cup in the USA, Canada & Mexico. However, controversy started after he left players like Foden and Palmer out of his vision.
Which Player Missed Out
Not only Foden or Palmer, but some brilliant players missed out on the North America flight.
Starting with the Goalkeeper position, Aaron Ramsdale was left out, along with Nick Pope. In the defence, injury-prone Real Madrid star Trent Alexander-Arnold could not make the cut. Veteran centre back, like Harry Maguire, and young talent Lewis Hall did not get a ticket for the World Cup.
In-form players like Morgan Gibbs White and James Garner in the midfield could become vital for Tuchel. On the attacking setup, Foden and Palmer could not impress Tuchel enough to be in the squad. Not only them, but also inform Bowen, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in the list.
Who Will Represent The Three Lions?
Tuchel picked his players for his tactics. Ivan Toney got the call while playing in the Saudi League. John Stones might get a chance as a midfielder in the starting XI.

How Good Is Thomas Tuchel?
The German coach has been excellent for the Three Lions. In the 12 matches he managed, he won 9 matches, drew 1 (against Uruguay), and lost only 2 (against Senegal and Japan).
The former Chelsea and Bayern coach has an impressive 75% of win ratio with the England team. In 12 matches, England scored 26 goals and conceded only 3.
Defence is always a great strength in these tournaments. Moreover, he has 9 clean sheets in his first 10 matches, which is a record for any English coach.
Just to show a big picture, England allowed only 6 shots on target during the World Cup Qualification. That is a record among all countries that played in the World Cup qualification.
Harry Kane is in great form under his supervision. He has scored 9 goals in these 12 matches.
Fixtures of England
England will start their journey in North America a bit late. They will face Croatia, their European rival, in their first match in Dallas. On 23rd June, in Boston, they will meet Ghana. The group stage encounter will end on the 27th against Panama in New York.
Player To Watch
Captain Harry Kane is in great form under Tuchel. He is also a one-time winner of the Golden Boot in the FIFA World Cup.
In 2018, he scored 6 goals in 6 matches and bagged the Golden Boot in Russia. In 2022, he played 5 matches and scored 2 goals. He assisted 3 goals in that tournament as well.
Though Tuchel left out some heavyweight players, there are plenty of talents to shine. Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi is in great form. Eberechi Eze, Bukayako Saka, and Declan Rice were key parts of Arsenal’s Premier League-winning journey.
Nico O’Reilly and John Stones ended a great season with Manchester City, though they could not win the league.
History of England in World Cups
England has qualified 17 times for the World Cup. In 1966, they won their first and only World Cup title. As the host, in Wembley, they beat West Germany by 4-2 goals in extra time.
In 1990, they played in the semi-final and were knocked out by West Germany on penalties. They also finished in fourth place after losing the third-place playoff to Italy, the host.
In 2018, again they played the semi-final, where they were beaten by the runners-up, Croatia. However, England scored 9 goals in set pieces, which is a record for any team since 1966.
In 2022, England qualified as a group champion from group B. However, they reached the quarter-final by beating Senegal and were knocked out by the runners-up again. This time it was France.
Can The Three Lions Lift The Trophy?
Under the supervision of Thomas Tuchel, England is in great form. However, their World Cup journey was cut short in the last two World Cups by the runners-up before reaching the Final. Hopefully, they will learn from their mistakes and have a great journey ahead. Probably this time, its coming home.
