Neymar’s Last Hope: Brazil Announced Its 26-Man Squad for the World Cup

The most successful team in the FIFA World Cup announced the 26-man squad to fight for the golden trophy. Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti declared the squad on 19th May, 2026, after being in charge for less than one year. And Neymar fans must be happy as he is included in the squad.

Neymar Is Back

Neymar Jr has been called up in the squad, probably for the last time in his career. This will be his fourth World Cup triumph for Brazil.

Neymar Jr’s World Cup stats are very decent. Neymar was featured in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 World Cups already. In these three appearances, he scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists in these three campaigns. He played 13 matches in total for these 11 G/A.

In 2014, as Brazil was the host, he played 5 matches, scored 4 goals, and got one assist. However, he could not play in the semi-final due to injury, and Brazil were thrashed 1-7 by Germany.

In Russia 2018, he played 5 matches and scored 2 goals while getting an assist. Though,  Brazil reached the quarter final, the Samba boys were eliminated by Belgium. They lost the match 2-1.

In Qatar 2022, Neymar played 3 matches, scored 2 goals, and had an assist. Though Selecao was knocked out by Croatia in the quarter-final, Neymar scored a brilliant extra-time goal.

Despite the recent form, it is sure that Neymar could be an influential character in the glory chase for Ancelotti. Though he had ups and downs in his career due to injury, he delivered for his teams when it was needed most.

The Squad

Representing Brazil in the World Cup is one of the proudest things in the world as a Brazil player. Selecao is never short on talent, and being among the top 23 of these footballers is clearly an achievement.

Carlo trusted the old guards under the bar, putting Allison and Ederson in the list for the goalkeeping position. Weverton from Gremio is in the list as a goalkeeper.

In defense, Brazil had some in-form players to pair up as centre-halves. Gabriel, Bremer, and Marquinos will be the favorites to start.

At the fullback position, Brazil had some serious talent over the years to protect. However, Danilo and Alex Sandro will fight for the position with Douglas Santos, Wesley, etc. From Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Dani Alves, Marcelo – this is surely a downfall for the Selecao side.

In the midfield, veteran Casemiro is there. Along with him, Guimarães and Paqueta may start in the XI. Fabinho and Danilo may not get many chances to start.

In the front, Brazil had lots of options to choose from: Vini, Raphinha, and Endrick have arrived from La Liga. Neymar is back. Great form of Igor Thiago with Brentford is worth the call to the World Cup flight. They have players like Mathues Cunha, Luiz, Rayan in the squad too.

Who Missed Out – Brazil FIFA World Cup 2026 Squad

Getting into the Brazil squad is one of the toughest jobs as a Brazilian soccer player. Every year, a lot of exceptional talent misses out because the squad is only 23 men.

Several highly appreciated players did not get into the squad. Chelsea forward Joao Pedro is one of them. He had 26 goals and assists this season. Players like Rodrygo, Militao, and Estevao missed out because of fitness and lack of recent form.

Last year’s forward, Richarlison, was not called up this season because of recent form as well. However, due to a lack of experience, Savinho from Manchester City did not make it to the top 26.

Brazil’s Fixture

The Selecao will start their journey on 13th June in New York against the last time’s semi-finalist, Morocco. After that, on 19th June, they will face Haiti in Philadelphia. Brazil will end their group stage encounter against Scotland in Miami.

Can The Conquer?

When the competition is the World Cup and the team name is Brazil, you have to respect them. Moreover, this is a tournament where new stars are born, experienced players shine, and veterans guide the team. And Brazil will surely give a fight under someone like Don Carlo Ancelotti, no doubt. Time will say how far this coach can take Brazil.
